The booking decision
Crown Princess emerged from a Singapore drydock in December 2025 with O’Malley’s Irish Pub, a redesigned Gatsby’s Casino, an EFFY Lounge and general refurbishments. Those changes improve the social map and make older reviews less reliable. They do not alter the basic Crown Class design, cabin dimensions or passenger capacity.
The ship makes most sense when its Australia, South Pacific or Asia itinerary is compelling and the price recognises its age. Traditional lounges, Skywalkers and multiple pools create a rounded cruise product. Passengers paying close to Royal Class prices should demand a better route or cabin.
What the 2025 drydock changed
O’Malley’s is the headline addition, bringing live music, pub food and a more contemporary evening option. The casino was redesigned and retail space refreshed. General maintenance also matters on a 2006 vessel, but it should not be confused with a complete accommodation rebuild.
A full public-area tour filmed before December 2025 would show an obsolete bar and casino arrangement, so none is embedded here. Use the current official deck plan when choosing a cabin near O’Malley’s, Gatsby’s Casino or adjoining Piazza spaces.
Crown Class layout and passenger density
The ship follows the enlarged Grand Class pattern with a central Piazza, Princess Theatre, Explorers Lounge, Wheelhouse, Club Fusion, Adagio and the elevated aft Skywalkers nightclub. The wider spread of lounges gives evenings more variety than one enormous central venue.
At 3,080 to 3,090 lower berths on 113,561 GT, Crown can feel busier than its smaller-looking profile suggests. Lifts, buffet queues and theatre exits are the pressure points. Four pools and seven hot tubs distribute outdoor demand better than on some ships, but school holidays remain busy.
Cabins and the age question
The 1,545-room inventory includes 675 balconies, 178 mini-suites, 30 suites, 222 outside rooms and 440 insides. Standard rooms are practical but reflect mid-2000s expectations for sockets, bathrooms and storage. A mini-suite adds meaningful living space, especially on a long voyage.
The drydock refreshed the ship, not every underlying cabin system. Check recent photographs for the exact category and select a room with cabins above and below. The 29 accessible rooms require category-level confirmation, including bathroom layout and route to lifts.
Dining after the refit
Three main dining rooms remain the core included product. Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, Planks BBQ, Steamers Seafood, International Café, buffet and casual deck food add range. O’Malley’s strengthens casual paid dining and evening atmosphere rather than replacing the main dining programme.
Package value depends on the sailing length and actual habits. Premier can be attractive when specialty meals, drinks and Wi-Fi will all be used. On a long voyage, the daily cost multiplies quickly. Reserve priority venues early and do not assume inclusion guarantees the preferred time.
Families, adults and long itineraries
Youth and teen centres, pools, films and sports make Crown suitable for families, but there are no major thrill attractions. It suits children who engage with clubs and shared family activities rather than demanding slides.
Adults gain the Sanctuary, Lotus Pool, Wheelhouse, Crooners, Adagio and Skywalkers. The ship’s strongest atmosphere is traditional and sociable. Longer itineraries amplify the value of several distinct lounges and a dedicated library.
