MSC Cruises has 23 active ships, but the decision is easier once the fleet is divided by generation. The newest ship is not automatically the best. A Southampton family, a Mediterranean couple, a Yacht Club buyer and an itinerary-led traveller need different vessels.
This guide uses the whole current fleet, while giving the deepest individual recommendations to MSC Virtuosa, MSC World Europa, MSC World America and MSC Euribia.

World Class – choose for maximum ship
World Europa and World America are the active World Class ships. World Europa is the stronger European choice, while World America is adapted to Miami and Caribbean families.
World Asia is scheduled for winter 2026 and World Atlantic for 2027. A future ship should not be treated as a proven active option until it is sailing.
Choose World Class when the ship is a major part of the holiday. Avoid it when long walks, repeated embarkation activity or a huge passenger count would overwhelm the itinerary.
Meraviglia Plus – choose for UK and all-weather use
Virtuosa, Grandiosa and Euribia centre the holiday around a covered Galleria and extensive indoor facilities. They work well in northern weather and school holidays.
Virtuosa wins for Southampton. Euribia wins when a newer ship and northern or Mediterranean route fit. Grandiosa can provide similar hardware from continental ports.
The congestion pattern is similar across the class. Cabin location and sailing date matter more than small age differences.
Meraviglia and Seaside families
Meraviglia and Bellissima offer the earlier indoor-promenade model and can be strong value when the fare is well below the Plus sisters.
Seaside, Seaview, Seashore and Seascape prioritise outdoor promenades and pools. They are better in reliable warm weather and less persuasive for a cold northern itinerary.
Seaside EVO provides the strongest newer version of the outdoor design. Compare Yacht Club size and pool layout ship by ship.
Fantasia, Musica and Lirica classes
Fantasia Class remains a large resort product with Yacht Club on selected ships and plenty of traditional MSC character. It can offer better value than the newest generations.
Musica Class is mid-sized and itinerary-led. The ships have fewer attractions but can feel easier to navigate and reach different ports.
Lirica Class is the smallest and oldest group. Choose it for route, regional departure or price, not for waterparks, modern cabins or a large Yacht Club experience.
Cabin experience can change the fleet ranking
A well-positioned balcony on a slightly older ship can beat a noisy guarantee cabin on the newest vessel. Inspect the decks above and below.
Bella can reduce control. Fantastica is often the safest mainstream choice. Aurea can improve dining flexibility. Yacht Club can transform the holiday at a much higher price.
Promenade balconies, Infinite Ocean View cabins, steel-fronted balconies, connecting rooms and studios all solve different problems. Do not rank ships without ranking the actual cabin.

- Book Virtuosa for a no-fly UK family or couple who wants a lively all-weather ship.
- Book World Europa for the largest and most venue-packed MSC product based in Europe.
- Book World America for Miami, Ocean Cay and a modern family resort.
- Book Euribia for a newer Meraviglia Plus itinerary rather than for a radically different ship.
- Book Seaside EVO for warm-weather outdoor life.
- Book an older class when itinerary and price matter more than hardware.
- Price Yacht Club separately against premium and luxury competitors.
