Disney Destiny is the newest conventional ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet as at August 2026, but its real distinction is not age. It uses the Wish Class platform for a heroes-and-villains identity, with Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, Disney Hercules, De Vil’s and a villain-led AquaMouse story. The ship currently sails four- and five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale.
Disney Destiny is the best current choice for passengers who want the newest Wish Class theming on a shorter Florida itinerary. Pride Lands dining and Disney Hercules are substantial reasons to choose it, not cosmetic differences. For UK families, however, four or five nights are difficult to justify unless the cruise is part of a wider Florida holiday.

Destiny compresses a large amount of hero-and-villain theming into a familiar Wish Class hull. Use the walk-through to judge the route between Pride Lands, the theatre, adult lounges and the pool decks before selecting a cabin location.
The heroes-and-villains identity is more than a marketing label
Destiny changes enough high-value spaces to create a distinct personality. Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King anchors rotational dining, Disney Hercules is an exclusive theatre production, Cruella de Vil gets a dramatic piano lounge and the character programme gives villains far more prominence than on other Disney ships. The result is a ship that feels more energetic and slightly darker in tone without abandoning the family formula.
Dining: Pride Lands is the reason to choose Destiny
The three rotational restaurants are Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, Worlds of Marvel and 1923. Pride Lands uses live singers and musicians for a musical retelling of Simba’s story, making it the ship’s clearest exclusive dining experience. Worlds of Marvel brings the Groot-led celebration, while 1923 provides the calmer animation-focused room. On a four-night cruise, one repeated restaurant is likely, so check the rotation rather than assuming every evening is unique.
Disney Hercules adds real entertainment value
Disney Hercules is an original Broadway-style adaptation built for Destiny, alongside Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure. The production is important because theatre is one of Disney’s strongest included differentiators. A family that would otherwise buy West End or theme-park entertainment gets meaningful value here. A family that skips shows loses one of the main reasons to pay the Disney premium.
AquaMouse and ten water spaces
Destiny has ten pools and water-play areas across the upper decks, with Toy Story Splash Zone for younger children. AquaMouse uses a villain-focused storyline, giving repeat Wish Class passengers something new without changing the physical ride platform radically. Crowding is still driven by weather and sea-day timing. Use early or late windows rather than assuming ten pools means unlimited open space.
Adult spaces have a stronger personality
De Vil’s is the clearest new adult venue, with a dramatic 101 Dalmatians theme and piano-bar character. Haunted Mansion Parlor also appears on Destiny, alongside The Sanctum, Cask and Cannon, The Rose, Quiet Cove, Palo Steakhouse, Enchanté and Senses Spa. That is a credible adult evening circuit. The wider ship remains heavily family-led, so adults who want an almost child-free atmosphere should look elsewhere.
Children’s clubs remain a core strength
Oceaneer Club, Edge, Vibe and nursery care use the established Wish Class age structure. Hero Zone, cinemas, pools and character encounters add family activity outside the clubs. Parents should pay attention to children’s actual willingness to use supervised spaces. A child who loves the club can transform the holiday for everyone; a child who refuses it makes the premium adult facilities much harder to use.
Fort Lauderdale is easier than Port Canaveral, but still a flight
Destiny currently operates four- and five-night Bahamas and Western Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale. For British passengers, the airport-to-port geography is simpler than Port Canaveral, yet the fundamental issue remains: long-haul flights for a short cruise. Combine the sailing with Miami, the Florida Keys or another Florida stay if the overall holiday needs to justify the travel.
Cabins: do not let a short cruise inflate the upgrade
Wish Class cabins are practical for families and many use split bathrooms. On a four-night cruise, the family may spend little time in the room beyond sleeping and changing. A verandah is pleasant, but its per-night premium can be hard to defend when the itinerary includes private-island or beach calls. Concierge is most persuasive for passengers who will use the lounge and service repeatedly rather than merely wanting a better cabin label.
The real cost
Standard recommended gratuities add $16 per person per night, so a family of four adds $256 on a four-night sailing or $320 on five nights. Add flights, hotel, transport, drinks, internet and shore spending. Destiny can look cheaper than a seven-night Treasure fare until the fixed travel costs are divided across fewer nights. Compare total holiday cost and usable ship time, not only the cabin price.
CruisePing final verdict
Destiny is an excellent short Disney cruise when Florida is already part of the plan. Pride Lands and Hercules are meaningful exclusives, and the adult lounges make the newest sister feel more rounded than a simple theme swap. CruisePing would not fly from Britain solely for four nights on Destiny unless the family cared deeply about those exact experiences.
