Spirit of Adventure is Saga’s more contemporary sister ship. Built in 2020 and introduced to service for Saga guests in 2021, she shares Spirit of Discovery’s dimensions, all-balcony cabins, maximum capacity of 987 guests and strong solo provision. The reason to choose her is not extra space or newer engineering; it is the bolder interior and more adventurous dining.

Saga’s official ship guide describes a contemporary and elegant design. Compared with Discovery, colours, artwork and restaurant concepts are more assertive, while the basic layout remains immediately familiar.

The clearest difference is dinner

Adventure’s included speciality restaurants are Khukuri House, Amalfi and The Supper Club. Khukuri House is a Nepalese restaurant and the most distinctive dining concept on either ship. Amalfi provides an Italian alternative, while The Supper Club combines a meal with live performance and a jazz-club or cabaret atmosphere.

These restaurants give Adventure a livelier identity, but they still require booking. The main Dining Room, The Grill and Verandah cover everyday dining, so a passenger who dislikes themed speciality meals is not forced to use them.

Cabins are effectively the same proposition

Every cabin has a balcony and there are 109 dedicated single balcony rooms. Standard, superior, deluxe and suite categories broadly mirror Discovery. Décor differs, but cabin size, route to lifts and surrounding public spaces matter more than the name of the ship.

Solo travellers should compare the exact single grade and position. Couples should not assume a suite is necessary to obtain a comfortable room: the standard balcony is already the baseline product, and the inclusive experience is largely shared across cabin grades.

Public rooms and entertainment

The Playhouse, Britannia Lounge, Living Room, spa, promenade, outdoor pool and activity rooms follow the same practical pattern as Discovery. Adventure feels more contemporary, but it is still a relaxed mature-audience ship rather than a nightlife-led modern resort.

The Supper Club creates the clearest bridge between dining and evening entertainment. Elsewhere, live music, production shows, lectures and organised activities support the same unhurried sea-day rhythm as her sister.

Who should choose Adventure?

Choose Adventure when the visual style, Nepalese and Italian dining or Supper Club genuinely appeal. She is the stronger choice for passengers who like Saga’s inclusive, mature proposition but worry that Discovery may feel too traditionally decorated.

Choose Spirit of Discovery for a more classic hotel atmosphere, a particularly appealing library and its Asian, seafood and French restaurant sequence. If neither set of differences matters strongly, choose the better itinerary, cabin and fare.

The CruisePing verdict

Spirit of Adventure is not an upgraded Discovery; she is a stylistic alternative. The ships are equal in the things most passengers experience every day – space, balconies, service, inclusions and passenger capacity.

Book Adventure for its contemporary personality and genuinely different dining. Do not pay substantially more merely because she is the newer sister.
