Choose Prima for design and dining rather than the largest activity zone.

Best suited to
Couples, mixed-age groups and food-focused passengers wanting contemporary design and strong outdoor connection.
Think carefully if
Serious swimmers, passengers avoiding reservations or families who need the newest waterpark hardware.
Norwegian Prima introduced a different NCL design philosophy. Instead of maximising passenger numbers inside a conventional mega-ship layout, she spreads restaurants, infinity pools and social spaces along Ocean Boulevard and uses Indulge Food Hall to make casual dining part of the attraction.
The official Norwegian Prima page lists a 2022 build, 3,195 guests at double occupancy, a length of 965 feet and 1,506 crew.
Ocean Boulevard is the strongest design idea
The wraparound outdoor promenade brings seating, dining and infinity pools closer to the sea. It gives Prima a more outward-looking feel than Breakaway Class ships whose activity zones sit higher and further inward.
The design works best in warm or settled weather. On cold, windy itineraries, some of the space that justifies the ship can be underused.
Indulge Food Hall changes casual dining
Indulge brings several cuisines into one flexible venue where passengers order from a tablet and food arrives at the table. Most core options are complimentary.
The Wake-style marketing of food halls can create queues at popular times. The venue is excellent when used outside peak lunch and early-evening periods.
Prima also offers Hudson’s, The Commodore Room, Surfside Cafe and Grill and The Local as complimentary choices, with Onda, Cagney’s, Le Bistro, Palomar, Food Republic and other paid venues.
Prima Speedway is impressive but not the whole ship
The multi-level race track is a visible signature attraction and normally carries a charge. It appeals to families and active adults, but it uses substantial upper-deck space that another line might devote to pools.
The main pool area can feel small for the ship. Passengers who prioritise swimming should not assume a newer ship automatically offers a stronger pool deck.
Cabins and The Haven
Prima’s standard cabins feel contemporary and the bathrooms are more modern than on Norwegian Star. Solo, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony, Club Balcony, suite and Haven categories provide wide choice.
The Haven has extensive sea views, private outdoor space, restaurant, lounge and concierge facilities. It is one of the strongest versions of NCL’s ship-within-a-ship product, but it can cost several times the standard fare.
CruisePing would begin with a normal Balcony or Club Balcony room and move to The Haven only when the private facilities, priority and service are worth the whole price difference.
Entertainment and reservations
The theatre can transform into a nightclub and activity venue. Live music, comedy, game shows and productions create a varied evening rather than one fixed traditional theatre programme.
Restaurant and entertainment reservations can be pressured. Book early when a particular show or speciality dinner is central to the holiday.
Who should choose Prima?
Choose Prima for Ocean Boulevard, Indulge, contemporary cabins and a premium-feeling mainstream ship without the passenger count of the largest Royal Caribbean vessels.
Choose Aqua for a larger family activity zone and Slidecoaster. Choose Star for Southampton convenience and itinerary value.
CruisePing would select Prima for couples and mixed-age groups who value dining and outdoor design more than waterpark hardware.
